Your GPA is not bad. Your SAT scores, however, are on the low side. Usually SAT II scores are considered acceptable for good colleges like Boston University if they are above at 600. But since there is one more chance to take SAT scores in January, you can try again. Or, you might want to try the ACT (instead of SAT I) which you might do a little better (I personally think the ACT is much easier). You have a great list of extracurricular activities, but admissions people want to see your committment in each, so in your application be sure to show your "passion" for these events. Your course load is great! It look challenging, so they'll be impressed. My suggestion is that if you work on your SAT (especially SAT II) scores a little, you can probably get in. Best of luck!

What are my chances of getting into the College of General Studies at Boston University?concert venue opera theater

I'll be honest. Your chances are not great. Boston University is an school with a lot 20% acceptance rate. You have low test scores and low GPA really don't make up for it. You have a nice tough course selection and great extra curriculars, but I don't think it is enough.

If you want a percentage chance (like 58.4%) go to www.mychances.net and enter in your data. It's free, so it's worth a look.

Good luck.
The person above is wrong; BU has a 58% acceptance rate, and the College of General Studies is easier to get into than the other colleges.

I'd say you have a good chance. Your SAT scores are definitely on the low side, but your GPA's respectable, and your senior year curriculum and extracurriculars are strong. It seems as though you're really passionate about music; make sure you play that up on your app.

Explanation of Petit the Poet from Spoon River Antholoogy?

Here is the poem by Edgar Lee Masters, and I need an explanation. I actually have to act this out.

Seeds in a dry pod, tick, tick, tick,

Tick, tick, tick, like mites in a quarrel--

Faint iambics the the full breeze wakens--

But the pine tree makes a symphony thereof.

Triolets, villanelles, rondels, rondeaus,

Ballades by the score with the same old thought:

The snows and the roses of yesterday are vanised;

And what is love but a rose that fades?

Life all around me here in the village:

Tragedy, comedy, valor and truth,

Courage, constancy, heroism, failure--

All in the loom, and oh what patterns!

Woodlands, meadows, streams, and rivers-

Blind to all of it all my life long.

Triolets, villanelles, rondels, rondeaus,

Seeds in a dry pod, tick, tick, tick,

Tick, tick, tick, what little iambics,

While Homer and Whitman roared in the pines?

Explanation of Petit the Poet from Spoon River Antholoogy?city opera

It's the beginning arising of his poetry - the seeds in the dry pod part.

He lives in the great poets and visions they evoke, but his own poetry is just starting to arise from the seeds.

Explanation of Petit the Poet from Spoon River Antholoogy?performing shows opera theater

you love nature, and you love poetry, but you feel like maybe you missed out on so much of life by writing all time.

And maybe you feel like you wrote the same old stuff your whole life, because you missed out on really living it.

You know that song by Vitamin C?? help ...?mr messed up opera theater

Apparently it was composed by Colleen Fitzpatrick.
The song's chord progression (and the orchestral part) are based on Pachelbel's Canon In D.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduation_...
Vitamin C -

"Graduation (Friends Forever)" is a single by American pop singer Vitamin C. Its chord progression is based on that of Pachelbel's Canon in D major.

Pachelbel's Canon (also known as Canon in D major, or, more formally, Canon and Gigue in D major for three Violins and Basso Continuo (Kanon und Gigue in D-Dur f眉r drei Violinen und Basso Continuo)) is the most famous piece of music by Johann Pachelbel. It was written in or around 1680, during the Baroque period, as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo, but has since been arranged for a wide variety of ensembles. The Canon was originally paired with a gigue in the same key, although this composition is rarely performed or recorded today. It is well known for its chord progression, which has become one of the most used in popular music.[citation needed]

The piece is commonly played at weddings and is frequently present on miscellaneous classical music compilation CDs, along with other famous Baroque pieces such as Air on the G String by J. S. Bach, (BWV 1068). A non-original viola pizzicato part is also commonly added (in a string orchestra or quartet setting) when a harpsichord or organ player is not used to improvise harmonies over the bass line.
I love that song!

one of the songs from a slideshow we did when we graduated was on there.

Concerning the faith of Ludwig van Beethoven?

Beethoven was baptized a Roman Catholic, and even wrote religious music. In his 9th symphony, the lyrics contained therein, are both theistic and pagan/mythological. His teacher, Haydn, believed he was an atheist. On his death bed, he protested a priest reading him his last rites, but gave in when his friends convinced him to.

What do you think? Do you think Beethoven was an atheist, deist, or a theist?

Discuss!

Concerning the faith of Ludwig van Beethoven?home theater

Beethoven renounced God at the age of 12 when he became deaf, defied God by obsessively creating his music and believed that "God lived within the human spirit".

Towards the end, after catching syphillis from a Viennese prostitute in Paris, Beethoven believed God to be a "comforting thought to keep man company through the lonely, cosmic night"

I'm not sure what that makes Beethoven.

He believed in God, but thought God to be a 'revolutionary'.

Beethoven never 'approved' of God - he thought God was a 'nuisance'.

A troubled man indeed... ears anyone?
u look at the 9th symphony and tell me that was not inspired by something divine....that music has the power to convert someone so powerful it is, it brings u to ur knees and bows ur head, such a heart that wrote this, must have had God in it.

maybe his mind cud not reconcile what he knew in his heart about Truth with what Catholicism represented for him. I think if i were him, i too would question it, to me religious dogma is so far away removed from the purity and simplicity of Truth

edit: i believe that about elvis too. even to the very end, even if they are not aware of it, the suffering is evidence of something far deeper in their heart that only God could understand

How many orchestra concerts have you been to?

Which orchestra did you see, and what did they play? I've seen the Minnesota Orchestra play a Ravel Favorites concert last summer. They played The Mother Goose Suite, La Valse, and Bol茅ro. It was the greatest thing I ever saw. And then last night I went and saw The Rochester Symphony Orchestra(my hometown orchestra!) play the Prelude to Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, and Rimsky Korsakov's Sheherazade. It was amazing! I'm a huge Sheherazade fan.

Anyways, who and what did you see?

How many orchestra concerts have you been to?amc theater

I'm 73, and have been a classical music lover since I was about 11-12 years old. But, during adolescence, lived on a farm in a rural area of Arkansas; you can well imagine how many symphony orchestras were performing there at that time: 0.

I did however attend a concert, my first, at age 6 yrs.: it was the Houston Symphony, and the only thing I remember, was how boring it was, and I couldn't wait for it to be over.

The second, was when the band instructor of our high school(in Arkansas, I was a sophomore)invited me to accompany him to St.Louis, to hear that city's orchestra performing with of all people, Margaret Truman, as soloist. Was thrilled by the orchestras performance(don't remember what they played), but Miss Truman was absolutely, unbelievably terrible.

There were two reasons for her being engaged: one, she was the Presidents daughter; and two, her mentor was a famous Wagnerian diva at the time, Helen Traubel: she was the then reigning Mets. Wagnerian soprano. Great voice, great singer.

Since then, I've attended numerous concerts. The most memorable:

A touring Philidelphia under Ormandy in San Francisco: Wagner's Overture to "Die Meistersinger".

The Pittsburgh under Steinburg in Loisville, Kentucky: Tschaikowsky's "5th Symphony".

Numerous St.Louis Symphony concerts under Vladamir Gloissman(sp-?): Wagner's "Parsifal prelude and complete Act III"; concert version(in its entirety)Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" with Helen Traubel and Lauritz Melchoir"(think it was complete, maybe only Act II).

And could go on and on, but am getting "typer's cramp", so will have to end.

Alberich

well i play the violin so most of the concerts ive been to ive played in
I work for a orchestra. I run the stage/house lights. I don't really care for the music, some is good don't get me wrong. But it is cool to see watch them play. And that is funny, the play Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, I helped set up for and put the show on. It was a life size puppet show. All the people were French Canadians. They were awesome to work for!
ive played more than ive watched (this is because i am a 1st violinist with the LSO, so on average we do about 20 concerts a season including tours and the BBC proms season. we also play a lot of music for films too. i suppose the last concert i saw was last night of the proms last year awesome....

I have a hard time relating to this piece of writing in any way. It's all so nebulous. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to be in it. There's some dark imagery but it is so fractured and disconnected that I have a hard time following. Perhaps I'm not a careful reader, but I know what I like when I read it. This is not something I like or understand. Perhaps you could explain it.
While not at all a FAN of your work, This one "works" for me. I offer a modest change in one thought.

Which Arts Camp is better Blue Lake or Interlochen?

(Michigan)

I'd like to hear stories from people.

I play clarinet, so I'd be in band.

I went to Blue Lake last year...and had a great time, besides the food and the bathrooms and the bedtimes.

I was in Symphony band and went to session 4.

I went to the interlochen website...but I didnt see any classes for Clarinet, or even band for that matter.

Could anyone help me out?

Which Arts Camp is better Blue Lake or Interlochen?symphony

I went to Blue Lake too (for clarinet). It's good, but aimed more towards middle schoolers. If you are in high school, I'd consider Interlochen. I know for sure that they have a band or orchestra program there, or so I've been told by A LOT of people. If you are uncertain, you can just call Interlochen.

I hope you have fun wherever you go!

Does anyone know the name of this song?

I know it is a joke too but someone had a recording of a symphony playing with someone singing it. And I cannot remember the name of it.

"The aquarium is preparing for the second grade class to visit when they realize that the dolphins are feeling, well, amorous. The only thing that works as an anti-aphrodesiac in dolphins is baby sea-gull meat, so one of the workers was sent to the beach to find some.

On the way back from the beach, baby sea-gulls in hand, he had to pass through a forest. In the middle of the path, there was a sleeping lion. So, he very carefully stepped over it, only to be handcuffed by a policeman.

He says, "Officer, what's going on?" and is told that he's under arrest. When he asks why, the officer says, "For transporting young gulls accross sedate lions for immoral porpises."

Does anyone know the name of this song?say yes

look for P.D:Q. Bach. There are a couple of recordings of his music, and that's one of them. He's actually Prof. Peter Schickele, but has spoofed Baroque and Classical music for many years, calling himelf the oddest of Bach's 20-odd children.

I don't remember which recording, but there's another piece on it called "Oedipus Rex- Just call me ED" that's done as a country-western spoof as well.

Good party stuff for people who know the originals.

There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network?

Dear Friends;

I am getting an error pop up from the system tray. Which says:

Windows - System Error " There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network."

I have two windows xp Pro sp2 on my computer . I have a ADSL (PPPE0) Internet connection and my modem is Symphony -SY800C.

This error is coming up on my desk top computer sometime (in both windows ) that I am surfing on the Internet.

I have not other computer at home and I did not use any Network.

Can someone give me some ideas as to what i need to do to resolve this conflict.

Thanks in advance!!!

There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network?sheet music

What you wrote is a tad confusing. You say that you have two Window XP Pro sp2 on your computer, does this mean you have a dual boot system with two copies of the same OS?

I believe your issue is that both OS versions are attempting to receive an IP address and your ISP may be assigning only one, which they are "fighting" over. lol

Usually, when people dual boot OSs they use different versions. It is possible that the second copy is requesting an IP address to be able to establish a viable connection, and because this version is on the same computer it keeps receiving the same IP address as the other version, which would cause a confusing and a conflict.

It sounds like your dual boot and network configuration is not correct. I would suggest you contact the technical department of your ISP for assistance, but I am pretty sure that the Level 1 and level 2 technicians will not know how to help you. These levels of technicians don't know as much as they should, but you will be required to work with them until they say that your issue is more than they can deal with and select to "escalate" your issue to the next level, which will be level 2, and then level 2 will need to work with you until s/he states that s/he needs to "escalate" your issue, and only then will you finally reach a technician who might be able to assist you.

Due to the daul nature of your system the technician will need to have experiance in setting up proper network connections for both. It is possible that setting a Static IP for one version and allowing the modem/router to assign for the other might resolve your issue.

You will first need to find out what your IP address range is from the DHCP Server. Once you discover this range you can then set a Static IP which is in the high upper range so that there isn't any chance of having a conflict.

Right click on your connection icon in the notification area and select Statis, when the dialog box appears click on the Support tab. On the Support tab locate your Default Gateway address and write it down. That is the beginning of your address range. In Private IP addessing you will have a total of 255 addresses available for assignment. Choose one up in the higher range for your Static address.

I am unsure if you are using Private IP addressing, or if your ISP has assigned you multiple Public IP addresses. You can discover this from your ISP.

It is possible that due to the dual boot configuration you have that you require at least two Public IP addresses from your ISP. You might have to pay more for this, and you may not, it depends on your ISP policy.

I suggest you phone your ISP and discuss this with the technical department. You can attempt to request a higher technician sooner than they might be willing to say you need one. Just be polite and they should help you out.

Good luck and much success fixing your conflict issue. Have a nice day and a happy New Year.

There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network?state theatre opera theater

If you only have the one machine at home, that is very odd. Also sounds like you are using a hardwired connection and not Wireless, so that rules out a neighbor using your connection too.

Try this:

Start menu %26gt; Run

Type in CMD

Then type in ipconfig/release

Then type in ipconfig/renew

This will assign your machine with a new IP address.
???

You can assign a PC a static address; that will prevent IP address conflicts, but I really dont understand how you have your system configured.
On your network there is another computer which is having same IP address of your computer...

Open router options and Enabled DHCP server annd change your TCP/IP settings to Obtain IP address automatically....
If your connected directly to your modem, you should release and renew your IP address. It may be someone on your local segment that is trying to hijack your IP address. Basically, if you surf the Internet, your ISP knows it's you by your IP address because their server assigns it and logs it to your modem. If your computer is shut down, someone can put your IP address in their computer and the ISP thinks it's you. This only works if your on the same segment, but it does work.
You might need a new network card. They are dirt cheap. I had two computers at work with the same problem so I just order new nic from newegg.

Yeah, the band is called "The Verve" and they're from the UK and the song is called "Bittersweet Symphony".

What song was THE song missing from VH1's 100 best of the 90's?

There were MANY - but most of the ones represented, at least in some light deserved to be there - but maybe less than some that were missing.

Victims:

DMB ("Satellite" or "Crash")

Bush "Glycerine" - yeah top 10 song in my opinion, not even listed.

No Doubt "Dont Speak"

Ace of Bass "Sign"

The Verve "Bittersweet Symphony", or even the Verve Pipe "Freshmen" for that matter not included...

Boyz II Men - a few that could have made it.

Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" on the list... but not "Name"? Name should have been there instead - if not both.

Bone Thugs "Crossroads"

Warren G "Regulators"

I could go on... this is just a list to spark ideas.

What is the song YOU think missed the list? And what songs were great, but shouldn't have made it?

Best answer will be judged on most creative reasoning for their opinions - if you can justify OMC "How Bizarre", then say why! Not judged on genre bias or a simple massive list.

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?... for the list.

What song was THE song missing from VH1's 100 best of the 90's?plays

I couldn't understand why they didn't have Candlebox ( far behind, cover me ), Bush ( glycerine, comedown ) Sublime ( santeria, what i've got ) Smashing Pumpkins ( chinese album ) on the list. These are the types of group/songs that defied an era that shall be missed. The types of music that when you hear them this day it takes you back to your adolescence. Awesome!

But hey, what do you expect from a group of people who put Backdoor (street) Boys, Ricky Martin and HANSON!! on the list? Oh yeah, wrong song for Green Day. Should have been one from the dookie album.

If you could live your life over again, would you still choose to live the way you did today? Why?

We all have our regrets in life, some in greater or lesser degree. I for one wished I took up music lessons in college instead of business courses as I've always longed to be a musician. Had I followed my heart's desire, I'd probably be conducting a symphony orchestra today.

I don't think I would have lived differently, but I would change things that I knew were going to happen, I would have stayed with my high school sweetheart after he joined the Air Force instead of leaving him.
I would have practiced being more assertive and done the things that I really wanted to do instead of kowtowing to others.

Someone please help me and my mom?

OK, here goes. I am a 13 year old musician who plays cello. I just finished the 8th grade in a preforming arts middle school in florida. I thought i would be going to the school next door, because we were a middle class family, and my mom couldn't really afford some fancy school. My mom is a very experienced photojournalist, with 20+ years of experience. She love doing photography, but for some reason gets very depressed when she is forced to work with something else besides photography. Before I graduated, my band director (I play clarinet 2, plus lots of other instruments) gave me this wonderful scholarship to French Woods Festival of the performing arts in New York for that summer. So i fly up, and i join the symphony within the camp. The conductor likes me so much, that he gets me an audition with La Guardia high in NY! My mom desperatly struggle to find a house, but found one in Staten island. I got in, all good right? no. i have to finish in dif. q. find it through my account thx

Someone please help me and my mom?opera score

I read up to part 3...

Your story is very sad, but maybe you shouldn't be focusing so heavily on gettting an iPod.

There are so many other things you have to be thankful for. You have a life, you're healthy, you're a talented musician, you have a mom who cares. Take a little more time to count your blessings.

And you have to understand that right now your mom can't afford to buy you an ipod, she has to worry about the rent and bills.

I'm a music enthusiast also, but I can't buy an ipod right now. Just listen to the radio, watch music videos or download music to your computer for now. Save up your money until you can afford the ipod.

And please, don't let it drive you crazy. Life is not all about material things. Concentrate on being there for your mom and playing your cello.

I know you are not a selfish person, but stop to think about those less fortunate who can't even afford to THINK about purchasing an ipod.

u know if u get a really good scholarship with good boarding facilities then u should go ahead....we dont wanna lose a great musician....but it would be unfair to burden your mother with the fees so do your best.....
i understand u being worried about your mom, but we as good parents want things for our kids so we sacrafice without worrying about ourselves. i think u have a wonderful mom to move all the way to statten island from florida, so you can continue on your road to greatness. i am happy your mom is keeping your potential, ahead of her needs. too many people worry about their dreams and forget about the childs. but honestly, you can get an ipod anytime in the future. listen to the cd player u have now. till she can afford one. i used to play clarinet, and bass clarinet in the band, if i could have went to school for it i am sure my mom would do the same as yours is doing now. from what i can see ".if you had a dream that would take your family around the world, your mom would sell evrything, and go to be there for you " best of luck in all you do..merry christmas also, to you and your family.

Probably Dropkick Murphy's Amazing Grace. Great song, kind of fitting.

I really like "When I get where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton or anything at all from Michael Jackson, just cuz I LOVE his music!!!
Precious Lord Take My Hand -- but must be sung by a woman who has a great alto voice

100 years -- by Five for Fighting -- the words tell how we think we have so much time on earth and how in the blink of an eye--it's over.

Every Now and Then -- by a Christian group called FFH (Far From Home) -- beautiful words and has a beautifully sad cello part.

and :

Elijah -- a song by Rich Mullins --- one of the greatest contemporary Christian singer/songwriters ever.

excerpt :

.... " when I leave I wanna go out like Elijah

With a whirlwind to fuel my chariot of fire

And when I look back on the stars

It'll be like a candlelight in Central Park

And it won't break my heart to say goodbye. "
Hand on my Heart by Petra.
no funeral for me. just a memorial service and i would like to have played "what a wonderful world" by nat king cole and the song that says something like... the one thing i want u to remember is that i love you.
I would like "Wake me up, before you go go" by Wham. The reason why is because I hate that song, it would bring me back from the dead just to turn it off.
Driving and Crying's "I'm going straight to hell".
How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace are two of my all time favories.

Give me the best starting...?

hello every body...

i am about to write 200 words essay describing the best book i've ever read. i also have to include why i liked it and why did i choose that.

i need a good starting and a perfect conclution...

idk wether its okey to start with this sentence:

This essay describes my favorite book named "Symphony of the Dead"...

Give me the best starting...?palace theatre

books, books are merely a compliation of words, thoughts, and characters. my personal favorite compliation of words would have to be...

or

why do all books go over the same routine? they have a "good guy" and a "bad guy" and the good guy has something he/she needs to accomplish and of course without fail, the bad guy tries to stop him/her. It's all the same, but for some reason this book stands out from the rest. Maybe it's just me, but this book is more than just the antagonist trying to stop the protagonist. there's feeling in the story, the story pulled me into it. all the other books i've read just seem to almost bore me. but not this one, (book title here)

=)

~haloguitarist

Give me the best starting...?concert tickets opera theater

I wouldn't start with those words.

Start with something more along the lines of...

Of all the books I have read, "Symphony of the Dead" is the one that sticks out in my mind as the best."
Hmm try something like a hook. As if you were writing a story, use passages from the book for extra detail and end it like the ending of the book, or with a well thought quote to match up to your concluding sentence. I imagine your book choice was quite well thought out so describe that, but start with maybe a passage from the book or if it's won an award and put in enthusiasm!
No, that doesn't work. Try maybe: "Symphony of the Dead", a beatiful work, and my personal favorite, is a moving peice of literature.

not much...but then again...I don't like poetry...sorry
That is a pretty good poem, sort of resembles a Haiku.

Keep up the good work.
Its awesome! I love it!!! Keep writing!!!
interesting start, i think the best line in the poem is ' of trodden paths,' or ' if i am blind.' i say scrap the rest and tinker with this poem, i would skip of the use onf the word sonet should be sonnet, because this is not a sonnet, a sonnet follows the prosidiac form of iambec pentameter consisting of a predefined set of lines and stanzas, usually composed of couplets.

this poem is free verse in its nature and all the usage of abstractions is confusing and simply tells me but doesnt show me, i want to see what is trodden, what is forsaken, what is blind, not be told what they are. dont limit yourself to fluttery language and abstractions, if you want success and others to feel something from your poem, put it in the real world, ground it in croncrete descriptions and lines.

Recovering a singing voice from years ago?

I sang all through junior high, high school, college, and sang in a couple of symphony choruses after that. However, after I had my third child 22 years ago, I stopped singing. I used to be a high soprano and now I've lost my singing voice and my range. Is there any chance that I can recover my range if I start singing again? Or should I reconcile myself to being an alto from now on? I'm 51.

Recovering a singing voice from years ago?globe theater

At 51 a few things can be happening.

First, most women's voices deepen and darken as they age. the voice you had in your 20s is not the voice you have in your 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, etc.

Second, years of lack of use results in the muscles losing their ability to control and you lose the "stretch" you used to have in your vocal chords, etc. Your diaphragm is out of shape.

Third, perimeopause and menopause wreak havoc on voices because of the change in hormones. That doesn't mean every woman who is a soprano will become an alto - it just means that things are going to change with your physiology.

Fourth, there are a lot of other physical changes with aging including hydration (just like your skin tends to be dryer, so will you vocal chords).

Fifth, you may or may not be an alto/mezzo now. I'd take voice lessons and work really hard on rebuilding technique for at least 6 months before attempting to mak that determination.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Voice lessons taken with a dash of reality will make you a singer again. There is no age where it is too late to start singing again. Many women love the way their voices gain character as they get older. You can't spend your entire life singing the 15 year old soubrette and spinto roles in the opera. I say embrace your voice - whatever it is today; make it be best you possibly can; and get out there and share your passion for singing with others.

Recovering a singing voice from years ago?oper opera theater

You'll only find out by practicing!

Join a local choir as an alto and see how it goes -- you should find that your range increases with regualr use.
Singers in my mind are a lot like athletes and the voice is like a muscle that has to be trained and will weaken if just ignored. You can retrain it, but you have to be extremely careful as the voice can be delicate. You don't want to push to hard.

I would really recommend finding a teacher or coach in your area. They'll help you with exercises and technique. On your own you may try singing some scales everyday and using a couple key principles of technique -

1. Stand up straight - spine straight, neck in alignment, and make sure your whole body is free of tension.

2. Breath deep - fill all available space in your body. Feel the breath fill your lungs, stomach and lower back.

3. Open your throat - imagine a golf ball back there, that will help.

Also, when you sing picture the sound going out the top of your head.
It is hard to give a responsible opinion without actually hearing you and working it out with you over a period of a few weeks.

My guess is that it is a little rusty, but it is still there underneath. I doubt that you are suddely an alto:::once a soprano always a soprano.

I'm having trouble downloading wma files.?

My symphony has a website where recordings of upcoming pieces are posted. The recordings are posted in what I thought was wma format, and they stream just fine, but when I try to save them and play them back later they don't work. Alternatively they show up only as part of a playlist, and the file type shows as "WMA shortcut". Do you think there's a way that I can save these as straight-up wma files, so that they can be a normal part of my Windows Media Player library? Help would be much appreciated - I'd like the recordings on my iPod to listen in the car and such.

I'm having trouble downloading wma files.?violin

They are set so that the stream from the webserver - the WMA file on the server is basically a straight text file telling media player where to get the info from.

Try changing your caching settings - tell it to cache the whole dang file before playing the file. While it's playing, go to IE's 'temporary internet files' folder, sort the folder by size, and copy out that biggest files that are listed , putting them on your desktop. They may already be listed as audio files... After you can verify that they are what you want, then you can put them on your other devices.

Better idea... If it's YOU'R symphony, make a stink about it! Complain! Change it! Make sure that your symphony knows that it's preventing a large percentage of their listeners from enjoying the music becuase they insist on using proprietary technology from microsoft that cripples their data. Have them use standard the MP3 format. How about MPG files? If they must use WMA, have it available for download, not just streaming.

I'm having trouble downloading wma files.?chinese theater opera theater

If they R DRM protected they may not allow saving.
Open the playlist file with Notepad and find the real link for the song, for example like this which starts with http and ends with wma for wma files:

http://site.com/song.wma

copy the link into the address space on your browser and the file should be downloading.

Purple鈥瞫 & Zeppelin鈥瞫 Orchestra Songversions better than Beatles?

Is it true that Zeppelin %26amp; Purple songs are far more difficult to cover with the skill of orchestra? %26amp; they are more complicated than any easy beatle songs?

The Zeppelin songs were played excellently by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The songs are All My Love, When the levee breaks, Friends, Going to California, Stairway To Heaven, Kashmir...and to me they sound the best, absolutely grander than grander....forget the Beatles songs!

The Purple songs were played also excellently by the two Romanian Philharmonic %26amp; London Symphony Orchestras in 1999.

The songs are Smoke on the Water, Sometimes I feel like Screaming, Burn, Pictures of Home, Child in Time, Watching the sky, wring that neck

How can i tell if he likes me?

there is this guy that i like in my class. hes tall, dirty-shorty blonde hair, and electric blue eyes. the first thing i see when i look ar his face is his bright blue eyes. well im pretty shy, but my friends said im more outgoing now...like by a lot form before. hes in this youth symphony with me and hes first chair french horn and im in first violin alomost last chair. every rehersal he never says hi. i have to say hi first. but last week he was the one that said hi first. he taunts me, jockingly, that im last chair. and once we were waiting to for a meeting and we the only ones there. so he came up to me and started talking to me and he came uncomfortably close to me to the extent that i had to step back. he flits with me but the elgibal guys im my class are ALL flirty. more than the girls too! so i cant tell if he likes me. the guy i like is comfortable talking to other girls but i get the feeling hes nervous with me and he doesnt talk to me as much. does he like me?

How can i tell if he likes me?performing arts show

first I am a horn player and I take offense at that remark ms made and for everyone's information horn is more of a middle brass instrument, as to whether or not he likes you, if he is shy all the time he might very well like you, but talk to him some more and find out, impress him by talking about famous horn players like Denis Brain or Berry Tuckwell

How can i tell if he likes me?opera cd opera theater

I think he just likes you as a friend. I was in a similiar situation. He's a lot like the guy I liked! I thought he was starting to like me, but then he went and got a girlfriend. Oh well.

And they say girls are confusing ...
Watch out for those horn players; they don't call them low brass for nothing.
Do you ever notice that winds/brass and strings are in different worlds? Anyways, as a hornist who used to play in a youth symphony, I have encountered my fair share of egos over the coveted first chair. In professional orchestras, there are no "chairs," there are unique parts. Everyone is amazing because they got the job period. And there are more important things than how you place in a high school section. I believe Wynton Marsalis was last chair trumpet in a youth symphony while growing up. You get a good teacher in college, work hard/let yourself grow and soon you have the edge.

It sounds like he may be a bit of a hotshot and show-off, so I would stay away. He could be "using" you to show everyone how hot he is/to stroke his ego (he's "first chair" with the girls too). If you assume he's interested, you could be setting yourself to get hurt/feel humiliated. You should only respond when a guy also treats you well and seems to care about getting to know you.

I'm sorry to hear, my darling dear, everyone's throwing their **** at you

When half the time, you know, you forgot about me

Long days, no one ever says what you should've done

But now you remember that I wasn't there for fun

Everything crashes down in a bitter symphony

Maybe you should've thought deeper into you an me

A question for mac and iPod EXPERTS please help!!?

okay, so I bought a new iPod nano, 8GB, light Pink, the new colour for valentines day. I plugged it into my new-ish macbook, which is black, and runs mac OS X leopard. I set the iPod up, put some songs and photos on, no problem. except for two things.

1) I didn't get highway blues or beethoven symphony free, not that i really want it, but it's just weird cause all my friends got it free.

2) When you plug in your iPod, it normally shows the colour of it on the desktop and in iTunes, i know cause it worked for my friend who has a blue one. It didn't work for me, it comes up with a silver iPod, not a pink one.

Please, can anyone help me fix these problems and tell me why it's like this????

Please, I hardly ask any questions, I'm normally the one answering, helping people out. Please, I really need to find this out.

Thanks!
