What does these words and abbreviations mean?imax theater
Movement - a portion of a musical composition, with movements usually separated by a short pause.
Opus - essentially, a work of music. "Op. 3" means the third officially recognized piece of music from a composer.
Sharp - (usually) raising a pitch by one half step
Flat - (usually) lowering a pitch by one half step
Minor - music in the minor mode, or a minor triad with the third three half steps above the root + perfect fifth above root
Major - music in the major mode, or a major triad with the third four half steps above the root + perfect fifth above root
KV - K?chel-Verzeichnis, after Ludwig K?chel; the standard catalog of Mozart's works
Sonata - theme + transition + theme 2 (exposition) || development of themes || recap of both themes, with optional coda
Symphony - usually a multi-movement work with each movement in different forms (sonata form + song form + rondo, for example)
The differences between sonata and symphony are huge, but that's a general overview. Someone else may decide to expand on this...
